Why?

Why be Part of the Solution? Our gyms and affiliates play a huge role in helping keep us physically and mentally fit, healthy and ultimately robust to deal with whatever life throws at us, whether that be getting all the shopping up the stairs of your flat in one go, increasing your odds against a global pandemic or just generally waking up with a smile on your face. 

We need to do what we can to protect these facilities, they play a key role in so many peoples lives and their impact cannot be overstated on the general wellbeing of their members.

Exercise

Being active has well documented physical benefits but our current public health crisis has highlighted the need to stay fit. With over 2/3 of the UK population being classed as overweight or obese we need to support our local gyms and clubs as an essential service. Let’s help them be part of the solution.

 

Nutrition

A healthy diet is the foundation of fitness. Morbidly obese patients are almost 3x more likely to need critical care for covid-19 symptoms than the general population. The work of our gyms and fitness facilities in pushing the message of healthy nutrition is more essential than ever. Let’s help them be part of the solution.

Mental health

 

 The previously undervalued element to our gyms and clubs is mental health. In a 2018 NHS report, people who managed 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity a week had 31% lower risk of depression than those who did not.

In the prevention of a mental health crisis, our health and fitness sector is most definitely essential. Let’s help them be part of the solution.
